We lived in Idar Oberstein while I was assigned to the US Army Europe. We developed a new family tradition during our stay: we would have Thanksgiving lunch at a local restaurant, because Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Germany. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving lunch at this restaurant three times And loved every bite of it!

I ate there with my partner, and we were both absolutely thrilled. The moment we walked in, we received a really warm welcome. We immediately felt at home. Such friendly people, a lovely atmosphere, and truly delicious food. Thank you so much, we'll definitely be back soon! :)

It's a sports restaurant! So you can't compare it with a restaurant atmosphere, but the food was great (I had Schinderhannespfanne) and the service was super nice! That and good food is the most important thing! For this reason, I ignore ambience. Price performance is also very good

Highly recommended! Not exactly cheap, but the portions and flavor justify the price! The Schinderhannespfanne (spicy pan) with two pork steaks, fried potatoes, and plenty of onions was served in a hot cast-iron pan. It came with a mixed side salad. The ambiance is that of a sports restaurant, and that's what the restaurant calls itself! During training, there's a lot of in-and-out going on. You have to accept that. If you take that into account, you'll have a delicious meal there.

I was stationed in Germany from 1983 thru 1990 at Baumholder and then Augsburg. While in Baumholder with 1/2 FA and then 4/29 FA, we would hold our Hail and Farewells here. Wonderful food and atmosphere! Going to visit Germany again in 2025 and will visit again for another wonderful time and maybe show my sons the thank you plaque my units left there.
